Notifications by project and room

Room settings override project settings, which override your default. If a room belongs to several projects, any project set to Off mutes it unless you override the room. Saved for this account on this device. The main notification switch pauses all alerts from the open app.

These settings currently apply while KithMoot is open. Closed-app push uses the keeper’s separate room settings.

Sending

Time to undo or edit a message after you press Send. Until then it stays on this device and nobody can see it. Saved on this device.

Connections

Servers that help two devices connect for a call, separated by commas. Rooms you start hand these to everyone who joins. Leave blank to use this site’s own.

Is this really them?

Say your words out loud on the call, where you can see them and hear their voice. They should answer with theirs.

You say
They should say back

Matching words mean you are both looking at the same two keys, so nothing carrying the room has swapped one for another. It does not prove a legal identity. Check through a voice, video or other channel where you recognise the person. These words are a check, not a secret.

Rooms

No persistent rooms selected yet. You can add them after creating the project.

Selected room invitations are shared with everyone listed. Room admission and agent execution permissions remain separate. Temporary meetings are not included.

Organise room

Choose an existing local group or name a new one. Leave blank to remove this room from its group.

Local groups organise rooms on this browser. Use Projects to share a project across people and devices.

Search messages

About this search

Search covers messages already loaded in this room: up to 500 per conversation from the last 30 days. Files are searched by name; nothing is downloaded. Search text stays in this tab.

    Context

Keep facts, decisions and open questions with their sources. Personal context belongs to you and your chosen agents. Kin and Kith collections are shared with named recipients in this room.

No collections here yet. Create one or import an access file below.

    Import or back up context

Keep a backup and access to your signing identity. Signing in alone cannot recover a collection if every backup and access file is lost.

Use Up and Down to focus messages and Enter for message actions. Escape returns to the composer when replies are allowed. Open keyboard help with Control or Command and slash.

    Keyboard shortcuts

    Use Ctrl or Command (⌘).

    Control / Command + F6
Move between rooms, room controls, conversations, tools, messages and the composer. Add Shift to move backwards.
    Control / Command + K
    Find a room.
    Up / Down in messages
Focus the previous or next message. Up from an empty composer starts at the latest message.
    Home / End in messages
Focus the first or last loaded message.
Enter or Shift + F10 on a message
Open its actions. Tab moves through the actions; Escape closes them.
    Escape in messages
Return to writing, where this conversation allows replies.
    Control / Command + /
Open this help. Shortcuts leave open dialogs and text editing in control.
    Control / Command + D
On a call: toggle the microphone.
    Control / Command + E
On a call: toggle the camera.
    Hold Space
On a call, outside a text field: talk while otherwise muted. Releasing it mutes again.

    Call settings

    Leave and tidy up

Leave this room, ask its relays to delete what you left there, and ask the file server to delete the files this device shared. These steps run in this order:

      What nobody can delete

      Room details

      This room

      Conversations

      Who is here

      You

      Signet contacts

Link one identity's contact list. KithMoot needs names, keys and who you have blocked, so tick both of those in Signet. Any other field is your choice there. Contact cards below keep the details used to reach people.

      Contact cards

A contact card is one link or QR from a person: their key and name, their relays, and the box they run. Reading one needs nothing from the network. A card identifies their box. Mark its message relay in relay settings only when its keeper has confirmed the address to you.

If something here is not working

This copies what this page knows about its own connections: which route each person is on, what the relays answered, what this browser can and cannot do. It carries no messages and no keys. Paste it wherever you are reporting the problem.

Something unsafe or illegal, rather than broken? Report abuse

      Invite people

      Invite to a room

The invite goes to them sealed, in this conversation. A room that asks first lets people you invited straight in.

      Notifications & sound

Alerts depend on this app staying connected. On iPhone and iPad, add KithMoot to your Home Screen to enable system notifications. The Zen bell plays while the app is running; background alerts use the system sound. Delivery after the app is suspended or closed is not connected yet.

      Profile pictures and names

Show the picture and name published by each person’s Nostr key. Names are chosen by their owners.

This looks up people in rooms and your private chat list. It sends their keys to the room’s relays and to public profile relays, and loads pictures from their hosts. Nostr addresses are checked with their domains. Those services can connect the requests with your visit. Turning it off stops further lookups and removes loaded profiles. Your choice is saved on this device.

A new room identity may not have a public profile. It keeps its name and short code here.

      Bothy connection

Pair this browser with your Bothy over Link. Your Link relay carries encrypted traffic and can observe connection timing and volume.

Pairing prepares a connection. Choose Bothy room routing in a room’s settings to activate that room separately.

Use the relay addresses supplied by your Bothy keeper. Leave blank to resume the saved connection.

      Bothy room routing

This moves this room’s text and presence to one paired Bothy. Calls, media, new invitations and ungranted channels remain unavailable on this route. Account and profile connections keep their own settings.

Update or close older KithMoot tabs first. A sleeping tab that cannot confirm closure blocks activation.

Public history recovery and cleanup are paused while a Bothy room selection is saved in this browser.

Withdrawing stops this selection and permits public routing again. A keeper’s retained grants must be acknowledged as withdrawn first.

      Nostr relays

Saved on this device. Room choices apply to your connection; other people keep theirs unless the room's maker shares them.

Connected means the socket is open. Accepted writes show the latest relay acknowledgement; connection alone does not prove a message was saved.

      Relays for private conversations

Private conversations started with you, and by you, are kept on these relays. Choose ones that keep messages and will not turn you away: your own, or one you pay for. One per line, up to six.

This list is public, as the Nostr standard for it (NIP-17) requires: anyone can see which relays you use for private conversations, though not what is said on them or with whom.

      Inbox

Showing recent activity and saved tasks. Older or missing updates may appear when you open a room.

      Shared work

      Connecting assignments…

      New assignment

The room will receive this objective, acceptance criteria, owner and any action inputs. An assignment grants no additional permission to spend, publish or deploy.

Unsent work stays with this room in this tab. Reloading or closing the tab discards it.
